On embracing our capitalist overlords

In response to the growing number of MySpace kids and blog aggregators straight-ganking my material, I’ve elected to offset my hosting expenses with Google Adsense, starting today.

Some may remember back when I proudly pronounced rgbdream.com to be ad-free. Know that I, too, remember those days. I don’t take the matter lightly.

After witnessing the success of our Google Adsense program at work, however, I’ve decided that even the most unobstrusive ad formats can generate a lot of cash. I can’t give out details about our statistics, but I can say that our sites at work generate an astonishing amount of revenue for so little effort on our behalf.

Now that rgbdream.com actually generates some substantial traffic, thanks to my Ackbar pics landing in MySpace profiles and my router tricks and Front Row notes getting sucked into sites like digg.com, I’ve decided to dip a toe into the sellout swimming pool. I’ve selected the most discreet layout Google offers for their adbox. I’ve also chosen to use links instead of actual ads, so no actual advertisements appear on my pages; instead, you can click into a subject area that interests you for a list of related ads. My hope is that this will bring in enough revenue to finance the actualization of my plans to purchase a ranch in the Texas hill country and a chopper to fly to and from the H-E-B in Hondo.

If nothing else, I figure this is one way to find out who among my loyal audience is willing to support my entrepreneurial efforts in the spirit of America and Our Lord Jesus, and who’s an unholy communist hippie fascist plotting to thwart through the aid of drugs and terrorism my noble campaign to realize my God-given right to enjoy the American dream.

Feel free to comment if you object, or if you have inexpensive prescription medication for sale in a foreign country.
